Energy and power
Generation projects prepared for lenders, from site to financial close.

Africa does not lack power projects. It lacks power projects that are ready for lenders.
For twenty years we have helped developers and investors take generation projects from a site and a hypothesis to signed financing. The work is rarely glamorous: an honest feasibility view, permits run in the right order, a power purchase agreement that allocates grid and currency risk sensibly, and a lender process managed to a timetable. It is also where most projects stall, and where experienced advice pays for itself.

From concept to financial close
Concept
Is the project worth funding?
We test the resource, the site, the grid connection and the offtaker’s ability to pay, and give the client a plain answer. When the answer is no, we say so early. When it is yes, the client leaves with a feasibility case that a credit committee will take seriously.
Permits
Can it be approved, and in what order?
We map every licence, permit and consent, agree a sequence with the agencies involved and run the applications as one programme. Land, environmental and community agreements start alongside feasibility, not after it, because that is now what lenders expect.
Financial close
Will lenders commit?
We shape the power purchase agreement with the utility, prepare the information memorandum and model, run the data room and manage due diligence through to signing. The client leaves with committed debt and a date for construction.
They knew which permit would hold us up before we did, and they had a plan for it.

What we help with
- Feasibility and site selectionResource, grid and offtake analysis to decide whether a site can carry a bankable project.
- Permits and approvalsGeneration licences, environmental permits and land rights, run as a single programme with the agencies.
- Power purchase agreementsTariff, term, deemed energy and risk allocation, negotiated with utilities and corporate buyers.
- Lender readinessInformation memoranda, financial models and data rooms built to the standard development lenders expect.
- Captive and commercial powerSolar and storage for factories, mines and business parks, including wheeling arrangements where the grid allows.
- Government advisoryProcurement design, tender documents and bid evaluation for ministries, regulators and utilities.
Illustrative example. A real mandate will replace it before launch.
A solar and storage plant, taken from permit to financial close
A developer had land, a grid study and a committed sponsor, but no clear route through approval and a power purchase agreement lenders would not accept. We sequenced the permits, rebalanced the terms with the utility and took the project to close.
Permits secured and lenders committed
